Shipping FAQ

How long after placing an order will AES ship my order?

AES will process 95% of incoming phone orders and internet orders within 24 hours during the Monday through Friday work week with many orders being shipped the same day. If your order is placed by phone before 3:00 PM it will be shipped that day from the AES store closest to you with the product in inventory. An order placed via the internet will generally be in the same category.

Mail orders are processed the same day they arrive in the mail but if the order is accompanied by a personal check, AES will wait for the check to "clear" before the product is shipped. Orders that are paid for with a credit card number, Postal Money Order or Certified Bank Check will be shipped within 24 hours.

There are a few things that will interfere with processing the order rapidly.

A declined Credit Card Out of inventory (A rare occurrence because of the huge inventory at AES but sometimes it does happen) Information provided by the buyer does not verify. We verify some information provided by new customers to prevent fraud and also to prevent shipments from not being delivered to the correct destination.

Why don't you have a store in my state?

It would be a lot of fun to have a store in lots of states but the reality is that we cannot afford to do that. Between inventory and staffing, it would be a very expensive process. That would mean higher prices to the consumer.

There is another reason that you as a consumer should be concerned about this. If we have a "business presence" in a state, even for a short time, that means we must charge state tax in that state on everything delivered in that state, even when we ship it into the state from another state. Again, your end price for a product goes up. This has limited the number of places AES would consider placing a store.

I live outside the United States. Why can't I use my credit card?

AES has had a significant amount of problems with stolen credit cards and identity theft with some unscrupulous persons trying to buy equipment from overseas locations. We have tried a number of ways to resolve this using credit card fraud detection plans but unfortunately, it has continued. For that reason, to protect our customers and AES, we have had to go to limiting payment to Electronic Bank Transfer. We value our overseas customers but we can no longer absorb the loss of income. We apologize for the inconvenience and be rest assured, we are working constantly on other solutions. If you wish to purchase from AES and pay by Bank Wire Transfer, Please contact AES directly by mail or phone.

Why can't AES ship products to the EU?

The problem with shipping electronic equipment to the EU is that there are strict regulations now in place in the EU countries about hazardous materials used in the manufacture of some products. This is covered by the RoHS directive.

The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment".  This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

As manufacturers revise their manufacturing processes and certify their compliance with RoHS, we will be able to begin shipping those products once again.
