Detailed Description
Hamstick 75 thru 10 meter models consist of a 47 in. long x 1/2 in. diameter fiberglass base section with a loading coil wound over its length and covered with black shrink-wrapped PVC. ItÂ’s fitted on one end with a 3/8 x 24 brass base fitting to fit most mobile mounts. A black 48 in. stainless steel whip telescopes into the top of the base section and provides for frequency adjustment. The 6 meter model has a 34 in. base section and whip. If the antenna shows a SWR of 1.5:1 or better, no matching should be necessary. However, on 40 and 75 meters, you can capacitively match the base for a better VSWR using values from the instruction sheet.
If you frequently change bands you can use the IM-1 Inducti-Match which is an impedance matching coil that simply installs at the base of the antenna and adjusts by using the supplied clip lead to tap up the coil for the best match.
