Alinco dxsr8t
My first multi band 100 wats new radio is this Alinco DXSR8T hhf rig.
I like to use cw for my prefered mode of choice, and for 24 years on the hamd bands I use cw for the communications. I have owned my Alinco dxsr8t for 6 months now, and when I would operate cw with it either on ten watts or 100 wats, the rig would lock up. Of course I also used a straight key.

I have developed carple tunnel over the years, so I switched to a paddle for cw operations. My rig is hooked up to a paddle now, and the rig is the dxsr8t and using a paddle with it, I have not had the rig lock up again.

The Alinco dxsr8t is a very powerfull cw rig, On ten watts I have received 559 , 579, 599 signal reports with reports of " super sounding radio." I recommend this rig to any one

Great for the price
I have had my radio for several months and so far it has performed as good as I could expect. It don't have all the fancies, but that is why I bought it. I get good audio reports. You have to check the manual for features, but it is far less complicated than a lot of radios. I like it very much and use it as my main radio.

Although the DX SR8T has good audio, I had problems with this radio. The first one had no power out put on the low bands after I used it for about 30 minutes. A.E.S. told me to send it back, and they sent me another one (which was very kind of them. I deeply appreciate what A.E.S. did for me, and I highly recommend dealing with A.E.S.). The second DX SR8T completely locks up after using it for a while on CW. Nothing works, neither the buttons nor the dial! I have to shut off the power supply & turn it back on again to reset the radio, and it locks up again after a while. I'm waiting to hear from Remtronics on this issue. This is very frustrating, to say the least!

Alinco DX-SR8
I purchased this item one year ago and remain totally dissatisfied. My initial phone call to the manufacturer produced an acknowledgment that the poor receive and transmit problems were not isolated but that the supplemental antenna tuner (would resolve them. I informed them that AES had given me the same information and that I had ordered the tuner, but that they had told me it was not yet available. I called Alinco back. They admitted that there were problems with the external tuner and that it was being withheld from the market until they could be resolved. Three months later I called again and was told that nothing had been changed and Alinco was not optimistic about availability in the near future. AES acknowledged frustration with Alinco and promptly cancelled my order. An additional six months have passed, the tuner is still not available, and the transcievceiver is still far substandard. I occasionally use it as a receiver, but rely on my old Swan 500 for HF work. I'd put this rig on Ebay, but don't want to stick some unsuspecting purchaser with it.

Great value for money.
Selectivity is good. The user interface is reasonable - you'll need the manual but it isn't too hard to figure out. Audio quality is good on both transmit and receive.

More flexible transmit power options would be nice, but let's face it, we usually use full 100 watts anyway.

No internal tuner, but the external EDX-2 works great and there are third-party tuners you can get. Alternatively, just use a resonant antenna for the band(s) you want to use.

My first rig, and no regrets. Even if I end up with a fuller-featured one later this will serve a role in a secondary shack (at the cottage).

Pleasantly surprised!
The Alinco Dx SR8T works fine. I am getting excellent audio reports
using the supplied hand microphone.
The rig hears well and sensitivity, selectivity is good. The price point follows The Alinco commitment to value and quality.
