Just clamp the top mounted transformer over a suspect cable or wire (up to 1/4 in. diameter) to detect RFI causing common-mode currents. Great for checking mobile installations: ferreting out alternator hash, ignition pulses and microprocessor noise on feed lines and power leads. Works VLF to VHF. Uses a 9-Volt battery.
